Come Out Come Out Whatever You Are...

No I’m not playing "Hide & Seek" .. I just watched it .. I really didn't want to go to the movie .. but I got a call from a friend that wanted to so I just tagged along .. I expected it to be a horror flick from the trailers I saw on TV .. and I don't watch those not because I get disgusted by all the gory stuff it's just that I don't like jumping in my seat .. The movie starts slowly then picks up on the action .. nothing jumpy till now .. it's all good .. by the end of the movie it twists violently and I really admired that twist it was totally unexpected .. Dakota Fanning was amazing as usual .. I just hope she doesn't end up like all the kid stars before her.. Robert DeNiro .. an outstanding performance .. I didn't expect anything less.. Elisabeth Shue was in the movie too .. haven't seen or heard of her much .. her role wasn't that big anyways .. Final Verdict: Go see it or get it on a bootlegged DVD from Hawalli...

Listen Honey...

We've all spent endless, fruitless minutes maybe hours (if you're that obsessed) infront of a mirror perfecting the way you look for a night out with the girls, dinner, a date or whatever ... then you have to double-check with someone before you leave the house .. not anymore because now you've got the:
you'll never leave home without checking up on it..

Darwin Awards...

Ever heard of them? Well I haven't, and I just got a forwarded email and thought of sharing ... They were named in honor of Charles Darwin, the father of evolution. They're founded to "salute the improvement of the human genome by honoring those who accidentally kill themselves in really stupid ways" Here are a couple of my personal favorites: [Bloomberg News Service]: A terrible diet and a room with no ventilation are being blamed for the death of a man who was killed by his own gas emissions. There were no marks on his body, and an autopsy showed large amounts of methane gas in his system. His diet had consisted primarily of beans and cabbage (and a couple of other things). It was just the right combination of foods. It appears that the man died in his sleep from breathing the poisonous cloud that was hanging over his bed. Had he been outside or had his windows been opened, it wouldn't have been fatal. But the man was shut up in his nearly airtight bedroom. According to the article, "He was a big man with a huge capacity for creating "this deadly gas." Three of the rescuers got sick, and one was hospitalized. [Hickory Daily Record]: Ken Charles Barger, 47, accidentally shot himself to death in December in Newton, NC. Awakening to the sound of a ringing telephone beside his bed, he reached for the phone but grabbed instead a Smith & Wesson 38 Special, which discharged when he drew it to his ear. [The News of the Weird]: Michael Anderson Godwin made News of the Weird posthumously. He had spent several years awaiting South Carolina's electric chair on a murder conviction before having his sentence reduced to life in prison. While sitting on a metal toilet in his cell attempting to fix his small TV set, he bit into a wire and was electrocuted. The winner was: [Arkansas Democrat Gazette]: Two local men were injured when their pickup truck left the road and struck a tree near Cotton Patch on State Highway 38 early Monday. Woodruff County deputy Dovey Snyder reported the accident shortly after midnight Monday. Thurston Poole, 33, of Des Arc, and Billy Ray Wallis, 38, of Little Rock, were returning to Des Arc after a frog gigging trip on an overcast Sunday night when Poole's pick up truck headlights malfunctioned. The two men concluded that the headlight fuse on the older-model truck had burned out. As a replacement fuse was not available, Wallis noticed that the 22 caliber bullet from his pistol fit perfectly into the fuse box next to the steering wheel column. Upon inserting the bullet the headlights again began to operate properly, and the two men proceeded on eastbound toward the White River Bridge. After traveling approximately 20 miles, and just before crossing the river, the bullet apparently overheated, discharged, and struck Poole in the testicles. The vehicle swerved sharply right, exited the pavement, and struck a tree. Poole suffered only minor cuts and abrasions from the accident, but will require extensive surgery to repair the damage to his testicles, which will never operate as intended. Wallis sustained a broken clavicle and was treated and released. "Thank God we weren't on that bridge when Thurston shot himself, or we might both be dead," stated Wallis. "I've been a trooper for 10 years in this part of the world, but this is a first for me. I can't believe that those two would admit how this accident happened," said Snyder.Upon being notified of the wreck, Lavinia (Poole's wife) asked how many frogs the boys had caught and did anyone get them from the truck? Though Poole and Wallis did not die as a result of their misadventure as normally required by Darwin Award Official Rules, it can be argued that Poole DID, in fact, effectively remove himself from the gene pool. Elektra...

An entertaining movie for an afternoon of doing nothing .. anyway the main point of this post is that I discovered a nice song played at the end of the movie .. that song is of an upcoming artist called Megan McCauley the song's called "Wonder" (it's on RealPlayer).. she kind of reminds me of Anastacia and Evanescence .. oh and there's an unreleased song by evanescence in the movie's soundtrack called "breath no more" .. but I guess you fans of evanescence already know of this song.. Can't wait for the album to come out..

Breath, Stretch, Shake...

Hello people .. I hope everyone had wonderful holidays .. I’m finally back from my long deserved vacation .. I can’t say it’s the best vacation, but still waking up in the morning not worrying about anything is just a wonderful treat… My vacation highlights: A dear family member passed away .. allah yur7uma inshalla wesaber morta .. it’s times like these that you see people that you haven’t seen in ages, the family gathers everyday which is a plus and did I mention the endless amounts of food .. and what’s the point of the 4 month 10 day “3edda” period if the wife was old enough to not have anymore kids… Went to a movie in Marina Mall... when I left the movie and saw the amount of middle-school boys, the raging testosterone, and people staring at you as if you’re a green alien … I felt like I shouldn’t have come back to Kuwait, and for the first time ever I wanted to be back in the States. I kind of forgot how much people in Kuwait stare at each other.. I went to Kuwait towers, I haven’t been there since I was in 5th or 4th grade, when my mom decided that she wanted to take us (me& sisters) sightseeing in Kuwait .. needless to say that that was about the only place we went to :P I remember seeing gaser dasman and how much of a dump it was, couldn’t believe that Sheikh Jaber, the ruler of Kuwait actually lives there .. anyways back to my recent trip, it wasn’t planned or anything, I was just driving with friends down gulf road, after a late lunch at Wasabi (rock shrimps and hamour sono mono rock!!) when I swiftly turned and decided I wanted to be in Kuwait towers, my 2 friends who were with me in the car were like are you crazy? I’m like why not? so I parked the car, got out went into the place, the entrance looked nice, got into the elevator and asked the guy to take us to the revolving sphere/ball or whatever it’s called, he asked us for our tickets. Tickets?! What tickets? there wasn’t any ticket booth at the reception area, I asked him where to get those tickets he said from the outer entrance to the place which was even farther than the parking lot .. heh yeah like I’m going to walk all that way for a bloody ticket, what a hassle .. never mind I’m not going out to get the tickets .. so I asked if there was any other way, he said you can go to the coffee shop, buy something and you’ll be able to go up for free .. ok now that’s more like it .. so went to the coffee shop, which smelled weird, the place had dimmed lighting, supposedly capturing the “romantic” atmosphere .. all I can say is “ilmokan shakla shobha” … anyways, before we ordered we were warned that there was a minimum charge of 2 KDs per person, so what? It’s all for the sake of tourism in Kuwait so it was for a good cause .. I ordered an espresso which wasn’t that bad, except that the cup was chipped and smelled like something burned .. when we wanted to quickly pay the bill and leave that charge was dropped as soon as we mentioned that we’re going to the upper sphere (sob7an allah) .. hmm, I guess they use the minimum charge rule as a scaring tactic for non paying cheapos .. up we go to the 2nd part of the towers .. the view of Kuwait city was amazing, I kept trying to take pictures but the glass just kept reflecting, so maybe the next trip would have to be in the morning .. did I mention that the upper sphere does a slow 360 turn? Yeah it does but we didn’t have the patience to wait for it to complete a full rotation .. so we kept walking around .. then left the place.. the quick trip couldn’t end without actual pictures of the towers, so what better way to do it from the convenience of one’s car, I opened the sunroof and started clicking every couple of meters as we were leaving the parking lot.. and that was the end of my trip to Kuwait towers, oh except I tried taking candid shots of my friends in the car while I was driving but they wouldn’t let me and people started staring again at us at the stop light… I also went to mojama3 il wezarat for the first time in my life for official business, and I can officially say that I haven’t seen this much bearded men with short dishdasha’s in one place .. and what’s up with men wearing slippers with winter dishdasha’s the sight is plainly revolting .. ukh

Random Thoughts:

  • Burgan Bank sucks!
  • Ragheb’s new song “Naseeni El Donya” is addictive
  • One should NEVER travel for 26 consecutive hours
